A Christmas and holiday-season tradition, seasonal shows are coming to the Robert J. Novins planetarium at Ocean County College.<\/p>\n

There will be three shows, all with a holiday or winter theme this year, according to an announcement from the college this week. They include:<\/p>\n

Laser Holidays\u00a0\u2013 Sat,\u00a0Dec. 3,\u00a0Dec. 10,\u00a0Dec. 17\u00a0at 11:30 a.m.; Thurs,\u00a0Dec. 8\u00a0at 2:00 p.m.; and Sat,\u00a0Dec. 10,\u00a0Dec. 17\u00a0at 8:00 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0 This laser concert features classic holiday favorites like \u201cRudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,\u201d modern hits like \u201cJingle Bell Rock,\u201d and unique renditions of timeless songs.\u00a0 This is a fun experience for everyone and gives new meaning to the term \u201choliday lights\u201d \u2013 LASER lights!\u00a0\u00a0(Family Show)<\/i><\/p>\n

Let It Snow: A Holiday Music Journey\u00a0\u2013 Sat,\u00a0Dec. 3,\u00a0Dec 10,\u00a0Dec. 17\u00a0at 12:30 p.m.; Sat,\u00a0Dec. 3\u00a0at 8:30 p.m.; Thurs,\u00a0Dec. 8\u00a0at 1:00 p.m.; Sat,\u00a0Dec. 10,\u00a0Dec. 17\u00a0at 7:00 p.m.:<\/strong>\u00a0 This delightful animated show features a variety of festive classics such as \u201cLet It Snow\u201d; \u201cRun Rudolph Run\u201d; \u201cFrosty the Snowman\u201d; \u201cHolly Jolly Christmas\u201d; \u201cJingle Bell Rock\u201d; and a stunning, multi-media finale by the Trans Siberian Orchestra!\u00a0 The soundtrack is visually enhanced with thematic animation, laser imagery, special effects, and all-dome scenery in the audiovisual setting of the Planetarium.\u00a0\u00a0(Family Show)<\/em><\/p>\n

Season of Light\u00a0\u2013 Sat,\u00a0Dec 3,\u00a0Dec 10,\u00a0Dec 17\u00a0at 2:00 p.m.:<\/strong>\u00a0 Learn the reasons humans are so fascinated with lighting up our lives during the December holiday season.\u00a0 This show is an exploration of the astronomical meanings behind seasonal traditions, including the \u201cStar over Bethlehem\u201d and recounts the historical, religious, and cultural rituals practiced during the time of Winter Solstice including Celtic, Christian, Hopi, Irish, Jewish, Mexican, Nordic, and Roman.\u00a0 It\u2019s an elegant and sophisticated program about the coldest and darkest of seasons \u2013 a time that holds some of the warmest and brightest celebrations of the year.\u00a0\u00a0(Family Show)<\/em><\/p>\n

Admission\u00a0per show is\u00a0$10 for adults, $8 for seniors (60+) and OCC Rewards Members with card, $7 for children (12 and under).
