(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The owner of several Seaside Heights boardwalk businesses was hailed as a unifying force in town, and a friend to many, last week as the Heights borough council recognized Wayne Cimorelli\u2019s service to the community.<\/p>\n<p>Cimorelli, owner of Coin Castle Arcade and Spicy Cantina, was the 2016 annual honoree by the New Jersey Amusement Association.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what we would do without him,\u201d said Michael Graichen, director of special events for the borough. \u201cIt\u2019s a big honor for him and, of course, the borough of Seaside Heights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has the respect of the business community and the residents, which is a unique thing,\u201d said Mayor Anthony Vaz, speaking on how Cimorelli\u2019s is a respected and positive voice throughout the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing honored by the state trade association meant a lot,\u201d Cimorelli said. \u201cBut the fact that we are all here together also means a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cimorelli said he got his start in the amusement industry after befriending Councilwoman Agnes Polhemus and her husband, former Ocean County Sheriff Bill Polhemus. He would frequent the luncheonette that \u201cAggie\u201d ran, and eventually was offered a job on the boards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeaside has always been the focus of my life,\u201d said Cimorelli. \u201cI love the boardwalk, I love the ocean. My parents weren\u2019t too thrilled with my staying in the amusement industry because I was supposed to be making my way through college, but I stayed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was the coconut oil and two piece bathing suits that probably had a lot to do with it,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n<p>For Cimorelli, Seaside Heights is a unique place where the spirit of hard work lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still love the unique, entrepreneurial spirit of our town, and the unwavering work ethic we bring every day,\u201d he said. \u201cFor me, I never felt like it was work, it was always a way of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/lavallette-seaside\/2016\/12\/boardwalk-business-owner-honored-by-his-peers\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The owner of several Seaside Heights boardwalk businesses was hailed as a unifying force in town, and a friend to many, last week as the Heights borough council recognized Wayne Cimorelli\u2019s service to the community.
