The Breakwater Beach water park in Seaside Heights will play host to an event that may land it in the record books.<\/p>\n

The park, owned by Casino Pier, will participate in the “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson” June 22, simultaneously with other parks. The aim of the event is to promote water safety as the summer season begins.<\/p>\n

About 300 swimmers are expected to attend the event, which will kick off at 11 a.m., said Maria Mastoris, spokeswoman for Casino Pier. As part of the national “Be Water Aware” effort, the park has asked television stations in the Philadelphia and New York markets to run public service announcements featuring 2000 Summer Olympics United States Bronze Medalist swimmer, Tom Wilkens.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBe Water Aware\u201d campaign is part of National Water Safety Month in May, a designation recognized by New Jersey and Gov. Chris Christie. National Water Safety Month is a partnership between local waterparks, the World Waterpark Association and its partnering organizations.<\/p>\n
