The staff at L Style Bar in Lavallette. (Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>Cristy Mattia is carrying on her family\u2019s entrepreneurial spirit in Lavallette, celebrating a successful first two months in charge of L Style Bar, a salon and nail business she started in town over the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith my dad\u2019s business over here, it really means something to be here in town,\u201d she said, referring to her father\u2019s home construction business, Mattia Builders, located right next door.<\/p>\n

Mattia grew up in Toms River and went to cosmetology school right out of high school. In the business for 18 years working at salons on the mainland, she decided to take a leap of faith and not only run her own salon \u2013 but design it from the ground up. With the help of her father, one of the island\u2019s most well-regarded builders, the salon took shape over the course of several months, and is now decorated with modern color tones, a chic front desk and even beautiful chandeliers overhead.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was time to grow and time to do something new \u2013 start out on my own,\u201d Cristy Mattia recent said.<\/p>\n

The first summer season for the business couldn\u2019t have gone better \u2013 \u201cit\u2019s exceeded my expectations 100 percent,\u201d she said \u2013 and having built up a strong base of clients, L Style Bar and its staff are ready to keep busy all year long.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got such great people here, and all of our customers have said we\u2019re exactly what Lavallette needed,\u201d Mattia said. \u201d<\/p>\n

All the girls here have been in the business for years, and Joanne has been doing nails for 20 years. We tried to offer a lot of services from the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n

The salon offers hair styling, blowouts and nails, and has blowout packages available. But in addition to the menu of services, there\u2019s one thing Mattia says differentiates her from the competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re a fun place!\u201d she said. \u201cOur girls make the place with their personalities. Everybody who comes in seems to love the vibe, and we\u2019re like a family.\u201d<\/p>\n
