Many of the traffic lights along Route 35 on Ocean County\u2019s northern barrier island are blinking once again, a sure sign of fall.<\/p>\n

Coincidentally, engineers from the state Department of Transportation switched back the lights the same day the weather turned chilly for the first time. One-by-one, a crew switched each intersection during the day on Monday.<\/p>\n

Lavallette Council President Anita Zalom said at a borough council meeting Monday night that in the coming days, crews will replace the 35 m.p.h. summer speed limit signs with 45 m.p.h. normal limits.<\/p>\n

Some of the island\u2019s traffic lights along the highway remain fully active. In Lavallette, lights at Washington and Jersey City avenues will remain on. Most of the signals in Seaside Heights also remain active year-round. In the nothernmost reaches of the island \u2013 in Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head \u2013 all of the lights are active year-round.<\/p>\n
