Residents of two of the communities most affected by Superstorm Sandy will have a chance to gather and mark its anniversary this weekend, and make their way into the record books while supporting storm relief.<\/p>\n

OceanFirst Bank is inviting people to take part in an unusual commemoration that will help others. This Saturday, Oct. 28, people will gather on the beach in Seaside Park to try to break the Guinness Book of World Records mark for sand angels (similar to snow angels) made simultaneously.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently the record is 1,387 held by Ludington, a western Michigan city,\u201d organizers said on the bank\u2019s Sandy Angels webpage. \u201cIt\u2019s time to bring that record to New Jersey!\u201d<\/p>\n

You must register to participate in the record attempt; registration is $5 per person and 100 percent of the funds raised will go to disaster relief and recovery, the organizers said. The funds raised will go to the Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group and the Salvation Army\u2019s Emergency Disaster Services.<\/p>\n

Pre-registration is required, available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event will begin at\u00a010 a.m. at the Seaside Park Boardwalk Park Pavilion Lot on N. Ocean Ave between Stockton and Lafayette avenues.<\/p>\n
