A trio of bayside streets in Ortley Beach have been earmarked for elevation in a state transportation funding announcement made this week.<\/p>\n

Toms River Township will receive $475,000 to elevate 6th Terrace, Harborside Drive and Spindrift Road. The entirety of Ortley Beach will be milled and repaved as part of a larger township-funded project that is expected to get underway this spring.<\/p>\n

The Ortley Beach project was the only project funded in Toms River. In announcing $165 million worth of projects in municipalities statewide, Gov. Phil Murphy credited last year\u2019s 23-cent gas tax increase with allowing the state to effective double its funding from last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe renewal of the Transportation Trust Fund made it possible to more than double the size of the grant program from $78.75 million in 2017 to $161.25 million in 2018,\u201d Murphy said, in a prepared statement. \u201cThese funds are instrumental in allowing each municipality to maintain its local roads and bridges in a state of good repair. Providing Municipal Aid grants to nearly 90 percent of our towns and cities is truly historic and demonstrates our commitment to relieve pressure on local property taxpayers.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
