The question of whether to extend the season to allow dogs on the boardwalk year-round is up for debate, borough officials said.<\/p>\n

Currently borough ordinance allows for leashed dogs on the boardwalk between October 1 through the Sunday before Palm Sunday — a move that was passed about a year ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the idea of allowing it year-round has come up.<\/p>\n

Mayor Anthony Vaz said a tentative discussion was held during the caucus session of the Seaside Heights borough council meeting this week, and will be up for more in-depth discussion at the next regular council meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing decided right now,\u201c said the mayor, who added he was undecided himself. \u201cRight now it\u2019s just taking a look, weighing the pros and the cons, the positive and the negative of what it could mean to allow this year round.\u201c<\/p>\n

While the mayor said the current ordinance has worked well, he could also see how a change would encourage even more people to enjoy the boardwalk.<\/p>\n

Before any change happens, the council would have to discuss it and have a public hearing to amend the current ordinance.<\/p>\n

“We’ve had some discussion but want to review it with more feedback from council,” said Vaz.<\/p>\n
