Seaside Park\u2019s four ice cream huts may soon find a second chance at pleasing tourists.<\/p>\n

The ice cream stands will not be in use on the borough\u2019s beaches this year. One stand was burnt down last year<\/a> in a fire that authorities said was intentionally set after a police canine detected an accelerant. The stands are currently in storage, but at least one will be reinvigorated as a seating area in a picturesque location in town.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re sitting at the marina, rotting,\u201d said Councilman Ray Amabile, who proposed repurposing the structures. \u201cI don\u2019t want to see them just rotting away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Councilman\u00a0Matthew DeMichele said one of the buildings will be used at the marina, and officials will make sure there are no problems, or vandalism, before putting out more.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people in town have said they\u2019ll add some plantings\u201d to beautify the area around the seating, said\u00a0DeMichele. \u201cI don\u2019t know if we can find a place for all three of them, but it might be a nice thing for the visitors to utilize during the day.\u201d<\/p>\n
