U.S. Rep. Andy Kim (D-3) will host his next town hall meeting in Ocean County and take questions from constituents, his office announced this week.<\/p>\n

Kim will appear in Ocean Gate Jan. 22 at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Ocean Gate town hall, 30 East Cape May Avenue.<\/p>\n

The upcoming session will be the sixteenth town hall held by Congressman Kim during the 116th Congress, and part of a monthly series to allow the congressman to hear directly from constituents. Kim is expected to\u00a0 \u201cprovide an update on efforts to lower prescription drug costs, address the opioid epidemic and support New Jersey\u2019s veterans,\u201d his office said.<\/p>\n

Kim will be joined at the event by Tiffany Muller, President and Executive Director of End Citizens United<\/a> Action Fund, a group dedicated to ending the influence of money in politics, named for the Supreme Court case<\/a> that determined corporations and other interest groups have a constitutional right to promote campaign issues or candidates.<\/p>\n

\u201cKim and Muller will provide an update on efforts to reverse the impact of the Citizens United Supreme Court Case, which was decided 10 years ago this week,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re holding this town hall on the 10th anniversary of the Citizens United decision to highlight the dangers of big money in politics, and to lay out tangible next steps to root out corruption in Washington,\u201d said Kim. \u201cThese town halls are about giving voice to the people, but we can only truly do that when we take big money out of the equation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kim will complete his freshman term in congress this year and is running for re-election in November. He will face a Republican challenger who has yet to be determined, though multiple sources say Barnegat Township Mayor John Novak is gaining traction in local GOP circles.<\/p>\n
