County officials announced Friday that a testing site for coronavirus patients will remain at Ocean County College rather than move to the county\u2019s fire training center in Waretown.\ufffc<\/p>\n

Health Department officials made the announcement Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

A final walk through at the Training Center resulted in some<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>logistical issues<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>being discovered<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>causing<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>the County not<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>to use<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span>raining<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>C<\/span><\/span>enter for the drive thru test site.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>While the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span>raining<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>C<\/span><\/span>enter provided an inside venue, following this review,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>these logistical issues<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>cannot be addressed in time for the en<\/span><\/span>d of this emergency declaration,\u201d said Ocean County Public Health Coordinator Daniel Regenye. \u201c<\/span><\/span>Therefore i<\/span><\/span>t was determined it<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>would be best to continue the tes<\/span><\/span>ting operations at the college<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Operations at the drive-through testing site at the college we\u2019re going smoothly, health official said, but had to be cut short one day due to foul weather. That prompted officials to look for an indoor site.<\/p>\n

\ufffc\ufffc\ufffc\u201cThe college operations have gone smoothly, the traffic flow is go<\/span><\/span>od and we are doing well there,\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Regenye<\/span><\/span> said.<\/p>\n

Regenye said the test<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>requirements have not changed.<\/span><\/span>He also emphasized that anyone getting the test should<\/span><\/span>continue<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>self-<\/span><\/span>isolating after receiving it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have symptoms, you should be returning home<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>immediately<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>after being tested<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>continue<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>self- quarantining<\/span><\/span>,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you have the coronavirus you will be spreading it if you are not isolating.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Test a<\/span><\/span>ppointments<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>will continue to be<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>held<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>on<\/span><\/span>Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>are scheduled in advance for Ocean County residents. The<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>college site will continue to operate<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>9 a.m. to 3<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>p.m., weather permitting<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So far, a total of<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>1,955 Ocean County citizens<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>were<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>tested for<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>coronavirus at the college testing site. Of those tests, 1,574 results have been returned. Just under 30 percent of the tests have been positive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of the limited number of tests we have, it still remains imperative that people follow the requirements to be tested at the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>training center<\/span><\/span>,\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Regenye<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>said. \u201cWe do not want anyone to show up at this testing site without following the requirements we have put in place. We are<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>not going to do any health screening<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>at the site<\/span><\/span>. I<\/span><\/span>t is just for testing for the virus.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ocean County<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Health Department officials are reminding residents of the requirements to be tested<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>i<\/span><\/span>nclude<\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>You<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>must be an Ocean County resident<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>and have identification<\/span><\/span> and have a<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>healthcare practitioner script.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>You<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>must make an online appointment at<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>www.ochd.org<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>You<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>must be symptomatic<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

The health department has suggested residents seeking a test should consider obtaining a prescription via telemedicine through the county\u2019s hospital providers.\ufffc<\/p>\n
