(YouTube)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>An investigation into the circumstances behind a Black Lives Matter organizer being charged with assault following a scuffle on the Seaside Heights boardwalk this summer has found that police acted appropriately, but the charge will ultimately be dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>Jamaal Holmes, 28, of Toms River, was charged after he and others marched on the Seaside Heights boardwalk Aug. 15. He had been charged with assaulting Robert Lay, a visitor to the boardwalk with whom he had exchanged words, &#8220;based upon the initial witness interviews conducted,&#8221; a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office said.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ose-youtube ose-uid-6a5de6b76450225e66d35d9c8d6d9964 ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:600px; height:550px; max-height:550px; max-width:100%; display:inline-block;\" data-embed-type=\"Youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" width=\"600\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V_yLaXwR3ds?feature=oembed&color=red&rel=0&controls=1&start=&end=&fs=0&iv_load_policy=0&autoplay=0&mute=0&modestbranding=0&cc_load_policy=1&playsinline=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; encrypted-media;accelerometer;autoplay;clipboard-write;gyroscope;picture-in-picture clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen referrerpolicy=\"origin\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/p>\n<p>Three days after the incident, the prosecutor&#8217;s office launched an investigation into the entire event. The results of that investigation were announced Friday. Billhimer said in a statement that he personally reviewed &#8220;all relevant evidence&#8221; and ultimately determined that the Seaside Heights Police Department had probable cause to detain and arrest Holmes.
