Seaside Park officials are delivering on their promise to quickly rebuild a section of the borough’s boardwalk that has fallen into disrepair and poses safety issues.<\/p>\n

The borough council on Thursday voted unanimously to allocate $85,000 toward the purchase of marine-grade wood that will make up the boards. Officials have said they intend for the boardwalk between F Street and C Street to be reopened in time for spring weather. The only obstacles they will have to overcome is a precarious supply chain and finicky winter weather. Still, the wood is expected to be delivered in a relatively short amount of time.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re seeing two to three week lead time, so it\u2019s pretty quick,” said Borough Administrator Michael Capabianco. “A lot of [the work] is weather-permitting, plus staffing and materials.”<\/p>\n

The borough’s own public works crews still be installing the boardwalk.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re getting it done as fast as we can,” said Capabianco, who stopped short of predicting a certain date for a full reopening. “I don\u2019t want to put a time on it because you can never predict weather or materials.”<\/p>\n

He did have one suggestion for residents: give the borough’s employees a “thank you” for putting in the hard work \u2013 installing blocks upon blocks of the walkway, board-by-board.<\/p>\n

” It\u2019s not easy work to be squatting down on your knees for all that time,” Capabianco said.<\/p>\n
