If early sales are any indication, Lavallette is looking toward a banner year for its beaches, officials said Monday night.<\/p>\n

Councilman Michael Stogdill said the borough has sold more than 4,000 seasonal beach badges so far under the early-season discount program, amounting to approximately $231,000 in revenue. That is up from last year, which saw the borough setting beach attendance even amidst the uncertainty of the beginning days of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

“It was probably right around 150,000 to 160,000 [last year], but there were a lot of things up in the air,” said Stogdill. “It\u2019s a nice number at this point, and we do sell the bulk of our [season] badges during the preseason \u2013 about 70 or 80 percent.”<\/p>\n

Borough officials said residents should take note that the early discount for seasonal badges expires May 31 instead of mid-June, as in the past. This is the second season with the revised schedule.<\/p>\n

Seasonal badges are $50 per person and $20 for seniors 65 and older before the May 31 deadline. On June 1, the price rises to $60 per badge, though the senior rate remains the same. Weekly badges this season will cost $35 (Saturday-to-Saturday) and daily badges will cost $12. There is no charge for all disabled veterans of any military service and all military service personnel on active duty status.<\/p>\n

Pre-season badges must be ordered in advance, with details provided on the borough’s website<\/a>. The badges will then need to be picked up at a designated time at a “badge shack” that is being built out of the Little League concession stand, located at the corner of Jersey City and Baltimore avenues, next to the library.<\/p>\n

Badges can be picked up Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning in May and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning in May. No direct sales will take place until June 7. Pre-season orders must follow the directions from the website<\/a>, or they can be ordered at borough hall in the badge office prior to May 31.<\/p>\n
