One of Lavallette’s most popular restaurants is proposing an increase in capacity to serve breakfast outdoors in the summer, and its food truck will be the center of the effort.<\/p>\n

The owners of Ohana Grill, a Hawaiian-fusion restaurant located at Route 35 and Bryn Mawr Avenue, will appear before the borough’s planning board Oct. 27 to pitch their idea to officials. According to planning documents, the restaurant is proposing a food truck to be located within the existing parking lot. The food truck will be used on summer weekends to serve breakfast when the truck is not at an event. The front deck will be used for seating.<\/p>\n

The project to open the deck and utilize the food truck for breakfast service will be heard by the board since variances are required to effectuate the plan \u2013 many particularly routine in nature. A bulk variance is required for a rear yard setback of 3.5-feet where 5-feet is required, and two others revolve around pre-existing issues with a mixed-use building as well as the overall floor space of the restaurant.<\/p>\n

The business is also requesting a variance for relief from a borough ordinance which prohibits a food server station from being located outside the confines of the physical restaurant building. The food truck, in practice, would serve as a server station under the proposal.

The hearing will be held Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at the borough municipal complex, 1306 Grand Central Avenue.<\/p>\n
