A new educational program aimed at sparking curiosity about the ocean and marine life will launch this winter in Toms River, offering children the opportunity to explore marine science through hands-on experiments and live demonstrations.
“Marine Science Mondays,” presented by Marine Science Camp, will be held on six consecutive Mondays from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at Toms River Youth Services, 1505 N. Bay Ave. The scheduled dates are Feb. 23, March 2, March 9, March 16, March 23 and March 30.
The program will be led by a marine scientist and is designed to engage children through interactive activities, including experiments and the examination of real marine creatures and artifacts. Organizers say the sessions are structured to combine fun with education, giving participants a hands-on introduction to ocean science.
The cost is $149 for all six sessions. Registration is available online through the Toms River Community Pass system.
Marine Science Camp, which has been featured in The New York Times and Forbes, is partnering with Toms River Recreation to host the program. Officials encourage families to register early on Community Pass to secure a spot.
