Though few details were shared due to potential confidentiality issues, it was revealed this week that Toms River has a new business administrator, albeit in an acting capacity.<\/p>\n

After the township council met in closed session to discuss what was described as a \u201cpersonnel\u201d issue, a short discussion later in the meeting led to the revelation that Business Administrator Jon Salonis was no longer serving in the role. Mayor Daniel Rodrick said Salonis was \u201cstepping back\u201d due to family reasons, though he would remain employed with the township in a more junior role.<\/p>\n

Rodrick\u2019s chief of staff, Warren \u201cDrew\u201d Chabot, is now serving as business administrator in an acting capacity. Chabot gained recognition for his efforts in helping post-Hurricane Sandy restoration efforts within the \u201cRestore the Shore\u201d campaign, and later became involved in local politics and government. There is no time limit for how long a business administrator can serve in an acting capacity in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

While salaries were not disclosed, Rodrick said Salonis will receive a cut in pay while Chabot will receive an increase, respectively commensurate to their new positions. It was not clear what title Salonis would retain, nor whether he would ever return to the top administrative role at town hall.<\/p>\n
