Ocean County will commemorate Independence Day with two patriotic events designed to celebrate the nation\u2019s history, honor its founding principles and bring residents together at two separate locations in Toms River, as America approaches its 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The festivities begin on Wednesday, July 2, with the Stars and Stripes Spectacular Patriotic Concert and Drone Show at the Ocean County Parks Administration Building at Bayfront Field, 1198 Bandon Road, in Toms River. The free event begins at 7:30 p.m. and features a dynamic 25-piece orchestra led by Wilbur Whitman performing patriotic favorites. Following the concert, a drone show will illuminate the night sky. Attendees can also enjoy food trucks, games, informational exhibits and a Revolutionary War-themed trailer highlighting the nation\u2019s upcoming Semiquincentennial celebration, an announcement from the county said.<\/p>\n

Parking for the July 2 event will be available at Cattus Island County Park, 1170 Cattus Island Boulevard, here, with complimentary shuttle service provided to and from the concert site.<\/p>\n

The celebration will continue on Friday, July 4, when Ocean County participates in the nationwide \u201cRinging from Sea to Shining Sea\u201d initiative, part of the National Bell Festival\u2019s efforts to commemorate America\u2019s 250th birthday. The event will begin at 1 p.m. on the Ocean County Courthouse Lawn and will feature a public reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by participation in the nationwide bell-ringing observance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndependence Day is a time to reflect on our nation\u2019s history, celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and recognize the sacrifices that made those freedoms possible,\u201d said Ocean County Commissioner Robert S. Arace. \u201cThe Stars and Stripes Spectacular provides a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to come together in a spirit of patriotism and community while enjoying an evening of entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n
