Two of the three men accused in the killing of Toms River native\u00a0Dustin Friedland during a 2013 robbery and carjacking that began in the parking garage of the Short Hills Mall have admitted their role in the incident.<\/p>\n

Karif Ford, 35, of Newark, and Hanif Thompson, 32, of Irvington, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges related to the case. Ford pleaded guilty to carjacking while\u00a0while Thompson, the gunman, pleaded to murder and weapons offenses, the Star-Ledger reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Friedland, who was 30 at the time of the shooting, was living in Hoboken and shopping at the mall with his wife\u00a0Jamie Schare Friedland when\u00a0Thompson approached and demanded the keys to his Range Rover SUV. In the struggle that ensued,\u00a0Thompson fatally shot Friedland.<\/p>\n

The third man that was part of the group involved in the carjacking,\u00a0Basim Henry, 36, of South Orange, has already been convicted of murder in the case.<\/p>\n

Ford will be sentenced to 20 years in prison; Thompson will spend 30 years behind bars.<\/p>\n
