Construction of a\u00a0QuickCheck convenience store\u00a0with an 18-pump gas station planned to take the place of a recently-demolished and previously abandoned building has been delayed, but will still be built, its developer said.<\/p>\n

The\u00a05,496 square foot building, which will include\u00a012 indoor seats and 8 outdoor seats, as well as the covered gas station, is on track to be built at the corner of Route 37 and Fischer Boulevard. The lots on which the project will be built, located at\u00a03104 and 3108 Route 37 west, were previously occupied by a furniture store and several smaller businesses. The bulk of the space had been largely abandoned for several years. The buildings were recently demolished.<\/p>\n

The construction project was initially approved by the Toms River Township Planning Board in May 2015, but construction was delayed, prompting the developer to request an extension of the board\u2019s approval. A copy of that request did not detail the exact amount of the extension being sought.<\/p>\n

The board will decide on QuickChek\u2019s request at its Dec. 21 meeting.<\/p>\n

QuickChek is expanded throughout Ocean County. A similarly-sized store with a gas station is under construction in Brick and stores are currently operating in Point Pleasant, Beachwood and Bayville.<\/p>\n

As for the new Toms River location: \u201cQuickChek immediately recognized the value of this exceptional location, situated at a signalized intersection that offers optimal visibility and access among the area\u2019s dense consumer population,\u201d said\u00a0Steven Winters, of CBRE commercial realty, said in a previous press release.<\/p>\n
