Construction of a new water main in a portion of Silverton will impact residents there for approximately four months, the township’s water purveyor has announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kettle Creek Road, Larch Drive, Shasta Lane and Sherwood Lane could begin seeing construction crews from Suez and its subcontractors as early as March 21. The work is scheduled through Aug. 31.<\/span><\/p>\n

Approximately 5,600 feet of water main will be replaced in this area, Suez said, and customers could face an interruption in water service. <\/span><\/p>\n

Those residential streets\u2019 work is from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, said the water company. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, the portion of Kettle Creek that connects with Hooper Avenue is a major intersection and thorofare. The construction schedule is mostly overnight there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifically: from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., construction crews could cause lane closures and delays on Kettle Creek Road between Larch Drive and Hooper Avenue.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the water company also suggested residents could experience discolored water and other disruptions to service.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their advice: fill containers with water for drinking and cooking, fill sinks and bathtubs with water for washing and flushing the toilet, and run the tap for approximately five minutes until water runs clear.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCustomers may experience discolored water during and shortly after the shutdown. These are harmless minerals that have accumulated in the mains, and while the water is safe to drink, customers should run their cold water tap for approximately five (5) minutes or until the water is clear,\u201d announced Suez in their March 15 statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Suez said each customer will receive a specific notification about 48 hours before their work is scheduled, including date and times about temporary water service interruptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

This project is different than the natural drain project the township is undertaking around this same area, where crews will be cleaning out drainage pipes that have clogged with sediment in order to prevent flooding in this neighborhood.<\/span><\/p>\n
