(Credit: Randi Hausken\/Flickr)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>All dogs over seven\u00a0months of age must be licensed each year under state law, Toms River officials said this week, reminding pet owners that all licenses expire in January.<\/p>\n<p>In order to purchase a dog license, the owner must present a current rabies shot certificate with an expiration date after Nov. 1\u00a01, 2017. If the shot expires\u00a0before\u00a0Nov. 1, 2017, the dog license cannot be issued, until proof of an updated rabies shot is provided. First-time licenses can be purchased any time during the year, as long as the rabies shot expires after Nov.\u00a01.<\/p>\n<p>Licenses are $15 for spayed or neutered dogs, and $20 for dogs that are not. Licenses can be purchased at town hall, or via mail. Information on mail-in purchases is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomsrivertownship.com\/downloads\/HealthDepartment\/DOG-LICENSE-2017.pdf\">at this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The township will host a free rabies vaccination clinic for Toms River residents only, Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Toms River Animal Facility 235 Oak Avenue.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Dogs and\u00a0cats attending the clinic must be on a leash or in a carrier, the township said in an announcement.
