Toms River police have charged two township residents with intending to distribute heroin after they seized 48 bricks \u2013 equivalent to 2,400 doses \u2013 in their possession, officials said Monday.<\/p>\n

The bust was made on Friday, when\u00a0the TRPD\u2019s Special Enforcement Team executed a search warrant along with Emergency Services Unit on 47 Walnut Street, Apartment A7, in Toms River and a vehicle affiliated with the same address. The search warrants were the culmination of a month-long investigation centering on heroin distribution within the township, said police spokeswoman Jillian Messina.<\/p>\n

As a result of the two search warrant executions, officers seized approximately 48 bricks, or 2,400 wax folds, of heroin, over a half-pound of marijuana with an estimated the street value of approximately $10,000 and approximately $700 in U.S. currency.<\/p>\n

Officers charged Louis Stokes, 40, who lived in the apartment, with possession of heroin, possession of over one half ounce of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of over 50 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana over one ounce with the intent to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute drugs on school property.\u00a0Additionally, Tosha Hester, 46, who also lived in the apartment, was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession of over one ounce of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession with the intent to distribute drugs on school property.<\/p>\n

Stokes is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail awaiting a court appearance. Hester was released on a summons pending a future court date.<\/p>\n
