Maple Avenue in Toms River (Credit: Google Maps)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Toms River township planning board has given its approval to a developer to move ahead with a project that will bring a large retail and office complex to town.<\/p>\n<p>The three-story building will have commercial space on its first floor and office space on its second and third floors. Each floor will include 11,200 square feet of space, for a total of 33,600 square feet.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey York, representing the builder, Toms River Center LLC, said the building would be located on a currently vacant lot on the western side of N. Maple Avenue and Route 9. Since the building, which will stand 40 feet tall, is located on a state highway, a Department of Transportation permit is also required, which the developer is in the process of receiving.<\/p>\n<p>York said the building will include 138 parking stalls, and its signage will comply with all regulations. He also said \u2013 to some chuckles of skepticism from board members, that his client\u2019s engineer does not believe the project will have an impact on Route 9 traffic.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no word on what businesses will occupy the space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have any tenants at this point,\u201d said York. \u201cWe have a long way to go and we\u2019ll get the tenants that are appropriate for the facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>York said all of the tenants will be legal uses within the township\u2019s Highway Business zone.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/tomsriver\/2019\/07\/toms-river-approves-33000-square-foot-retail-office-building\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Toms River township planning board has given its approval to a developer to move ahead with a project that will bring a large retail and office complex to town.
