After a two-season local stint with the New York Mets, preceded by a half-season with the Yankees, Toms River\u2019s Todd Frazier looks to bringing his services to the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Morning News reported<\/a> on Sunday that the former All Star third baseman, who became a free agent after the 2019 Mets campaign ended without a playoff berth, has agreed to a deal with the Texas Rangers that comes with a $3.5 million salary for 2020 with a $5.75 million club option for 2021, alongside a $1.5 million buyout option.<\/p>\n

\u201cThird base is a glaring need for the Rangers,\u201d wrote Dallas Morning News reporter Evan Grant, who broke the story<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adam J. Morris, a writer for Lone Star Baseball<\/a>, said he\u2019s long thought Frazier could be a good fit for the Rangers, who need an influx of right-handed bats in the lineup.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a nice, cheap, low-risk pickup,\u201d Morris wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Frazier continues to reside in his hometown of Toms River, where he successfully petitioned the local zoning board to allow him to build a sports-oriented addition<\/a> on his home in North Dover earlier this year.<\/p>\n
