Initially, Officer Phil Bianco decided to pull the 2019 Jeep Cherokee over after he noticed it was speeding in the southbound lanes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The suspects continued at a high rate of speed while throwing bricks of heroin out the window &#8230; onto the highway, disregarding the red traffic signals,&#8221; police spokeswoman Jillian Messina said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>The driver eventually backed in to a driveway and the occupants fled on foot. Officers from Lavallette, Seaside Heights, and the Ocean County Sheriff&#8217;s Department assisted several Toms River officers in apprehending three suspects.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are identified as Ambiorix Ramirez, 19, of New Brunswick, Allen Pittman, 28 of South Plainfield, and Nasiyr Peters, 21, of Jamesburg.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Ramirez, the driver, was charged with eluding, obstruction, possession of illegal substances with intent to distribute, driving without a license, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, Failure to signal a lane change, failure to observe a red traffic signal, and improper passing on the right.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Pittman and Peters were both charged with obstruction and possession of illegal substances with intent to distribute.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Officers collected 16 bundles of suspect heroin, a cellophane bag containing suspected oxycontin, and an undisclosed amount of cash. An Ocean County Sheriff Department K-9 officer responded to check the area for additional drugs. The incident remains under investigation, additional charges are pending, Messina said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019d like to thank all of the assisting agencies, as well as the many vigilant witnesses on scene,&#8221; Messina said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>A search of records showed Ramirez and Peters were lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
