Just days after a man was shot on Main Street near downtown Toms River, police are investigating a second report of shots fired. Fortunately, in this case, there were no apparent victims.<\/p>\n

According to a joint statement from township police and the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, authorities are investigating a report of gunshots fired in the area of Washington Street in Toms River at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. There were no reported injuries.<\/p>\n

The probe into the shots fired is \u201can active and ongoing investigation,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are allocating all of our resources to root out the individuals responsible for this brazen lawlessness. This behavior will not be tolerated,\u201d said Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer. \u201cI can\u2019t comment on the specifics of this investigation, I can tell you the detectives are working around the clock to bring the individuals responsible to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Toms River Police Department is providing extra patrols in the area and \u201cis committed to the safety of our residents,\u201d said Chief Mitch Little.<\/p>\n

Investigators urge anyone who has any information concerning the investigation to contact Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office at 732-929-2027, or Detective Daniel Brennan of the Toms River Township Police Department at 732-349-0150.<\/p>\n

The Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit is also investigating.<\/p>\n
