(Photo: BlueClaws)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Lakewood BlueClaws have a new name \u2013 sort of.<\/p>\n<p>After days touting a \u201cbig announcement\u201d Wednesday night, team executives held an event at Asbury Park Convention Hall to announce that the team would be renamed the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.<\/p>\n<p>Most significantly, amid changes across the Minor League Baseball system, the BlueClaws used the event to announce they have exercised an option on their ballpark lease with the Township of Lakewood that keeps the team in Lakewood for at least an additional 10 years through 2031.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4223\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/tomsriver\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/firstenergypark.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"FirstEnergy Park, home of the Lakewood BlueClaws. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe BlueClaws and Township of Lakewood have been fantastic partners over the last two decades and we look forward to continuing that relationship many years into the future,\u201d said Art Matin, managing partner of Shore Town Baseball, the ownership group that operates the BlueClaws.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the re-branding, the team unveiled an entire new set of logos, on-field caps, and an all-new Jersey Shore BlueClaws home white jersey. The remainder of the uniform set will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Shore Town Baseball has added a mini golf course, boardwalk game area, and Biergarten to FirstEnergy Park over the last several seasons to help bring a \u2018Shore feeling\u2019 to the ballpark, said Matin. Changing the name to reflect a regional destination \u201cis the natural next-step.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of the event, banners were unfurled from Convention Hall, displaying the team\u2019s new logos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank Convention Hall and Seahorse for serving as gracious hosts for the launch of the Jersey Shore BlueClaws,\u201d said Team President Joe Ricciutti. \u201cSeeing these new logos adorn an iconic building like Convention Hall was the perfect kickoff for this exciting new time in the histories of the BlueClaws and the Jersey Shore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BlueClaws\u2019 new look was designed at Brandiose, a minor league baseball team <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/culture\/2015\/09\/how-brandiose-transformed-minor-league-baseball-from-the-hartford-yard-goats-to-the-richmond-flying-squirrels.html\">consulting firm based in San Diego<\/a>. The development process began in January when Brandiose\u2019s Jason Klein and Casey White visited the Shore area with fans, staff and community members to learn about the \u201cstories, history, and personality of the BlueClaws and the area,\u201d a statement said.
