Authorities are trying to identify a woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Berkeley Township. Specifically, the body, which belonged to an elderly woman, was found in a wooded area along an ATV trail, approximately one-and-a-half mile south of Township Line Road in Berkeley Township. The area is a preserved portion located behind the Holiday City at Berkeley development and across from the Ocean County Airport.<\/p>\n

Responding officers found the body \u201cin advanced stages of decomposition,\u201d a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n

The Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office Major Crime Unit, Berkeley Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Ocean County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office are currently investigating this matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working to positively identify this female and will release more information once we do,\u201d said prosecutor Bradley Billhimer. \u201cAt this point in time, there is no reason to believe there is any foul play involved her untimely and tragic death.\u201d<\/p>\n
