(Credit: Thad Zajdowicz\/ Flickr)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Toms River Regional schools superintendent David Healy said Thursday that there is no prohibition on students bringing bottled water to school.<\/p>\n<p>The issue first <a href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/tomsriver\/2017\/02\/toms-river-school-officials-debate-allowing-students-to-temporarily-carry-water-bottles\/\">came up at Wednesday night\u2019s school board meeting<\/a>, where a parent questioned whether a district policy prevented students from carrying water bottles in school in the wake of findings that a limited number of <a href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/tomsriver\/2017\/02\/toms-river-school-officials-debate-allowing-students-to-temporarily-carry-water-bottles\/\">fixtures in five elementary schools<\/a> had elevated levels of lead and were being repaired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no such policy,\u201d Healy said Thursday. \u201cThe policy doesn\u2019t exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Healy said he checked with administrators at all of his schools, including the high schools, where no elevated lead levels were found, and confirmed that bottled water was allowed.
