Every school in the district ended up receiving a grant \u2013 and some of the programs were praised as being both impressive and innovative.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are becoming increasingly known for being innovators around the state,&#8221; said Superintendent David Healy of the grant program, which was called the Elevate\u00a0Toms River Principals&#8217; Challenge. &#8220;When two parties come together for the common good of a school district \u2026 we call this an educational partnership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Programs spurred by the grants included a robotics competition, a class that focused on engineering and designing roller coasters, bridge design, aircraft design and an outdoor program that focused on growing healthy food.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_535\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-535\" class=\"size-large wp-image-535\" src=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/tomsriver\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Screen-Shot-2017-02-17-at-1.34.54-AM-1024x563.png\" alt=\"Students work on designing roller coasters during a program at their school. (Photo: TRRS)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We were very excited to be a part of this,&#8221; said Jeremy Grunin. &#8220;To see the engaged teachers, and most importantly the engaged students, it was the most rewarding thing we ever hoped for.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The foundation contributed $184,000 toward the programs, Healy said.
