UPDATE 1:25 A.M.:<\/strong> FROM TRPD – “The female has been safely located and transported to the hospital for treatment. The shelter in place is now lifted.”<\/p>\n

ORIGINAL STORY, MONDAY EVENING:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Toms River police issued a warning to residents who live in and around the Edgewood and Silver Ridge apartment complexes.<\/p>\n

According to a short statement issued by police at 9 p.m. Monday, officers were actively searching for a suicidal female armed with a handgun in the wooded area behind Edgewood apartments, and the access road that runs along the power lines behind the Silver Ridge apartment complex.<\/p>\n

“We are asking the residents in that area to please shelter in place for the time being,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
