A man suspected of being behind a violent stabbing incident at the Howard Johnson hotel in Toms River has pleaded guilty, prosecutors said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Carles Bryant, 34, of Millville, pleaded guilty Sept. 1 to attempted murder. At the time of his sentencing on Oct. 13, 2021, prosecutors will recommend he serve 15 years in state prison for the incident.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, police were called to the hotel at about 10:30 p.m. March 3, 2021, for a report of some type of altercation taking place in the lobby. When responding officers arrived, they found a female victim unresponsive with multiple apparent stab wounds to the head, face, and body. The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and eventually released.<\/p>\n

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office Major Crime Unit and Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau resulted in Bryant being identified as the assailant responsible for the victim\u2019s injuries. An arrest warrant was issued for Bryant the following day, and on March 19, he was taken into custody in Atlantic City by the United States Marshals Service without incident. He has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since his apprehension.<\/p>\n
