Toms River police are continuing to investigate a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a township man last weekend.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from police, Nicholas Cacciapaglia, 24 of Toms River, was learning to ride a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the parking lot of Ocean County Powersports when he lost control and struck a curb and entered Route 37. The incident occurred Sunday, March 13, 2022 at about 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Once on Route 37, the bike went down and Cacciapaglia slid into the center lane, where he was hit by a passing vehicle driven by Domenic Maruca, 62, of Toms River. Cacciapaglia was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n

Police said Ocean County Powersports did not own the motorcycle and was closed at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n

There were no signs of impairment, and no summons were issued, said police spokeswoman Jillian Messina. The accident remains under investigation by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Ryan Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n
