Toms River police arrested two juveniles Wednesday after receiving a 911 call reporting two juveniles with a gun.<\/p>\n

Police on Wednesday at about 5 p.m. were called to the area of Hooper Avenue and Caudina Avenue in response to a female reporting that two juveniles, with whom who she was familiar, \u201cpulled a handgun on her and her friend and then slashed their vehicle tires with a knife,\u201d according to a statement from police spokeswoman Jillian Messina.<\/p>\n

The suspects were gone upon police arrival, Messina said, but approximately one hour later, Sgt. Chris McDowell observed the vehicle in the area of Route 37 and Hooper Avenue.<\/p>\n

Following a brief pursuit that was terminated due to public safety concerns, the vehicle was later located unoccupied in the parking lot of the Ocean County Mall. Several police units responded to the area and located both subjects, with the weapon in question, and placed them under arrest without incident, Messina said.<\/p>\n

The juveniles, whose names were not divulged, were charged with criminal mischief, second degree eluding, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Additional charges are pending. It was not clear whether the suspects were in police custody or had been released.<\/p>\n
