Toms River officials last week unanimously voted in favor of an ordinance lowering the speed limit on a roadway where residents have complained of motorists driving too fast for the conditions.<\/p>\n

The council voted to drop the speed limit on Cedar Grove Road, which intersects with a significant number of smaller residential streets, from 40 m.p.h. to 35 m.p.h. The new speed limit will be in effect for the entire length of the roadway.<\/p>\n

Residents applauded the decision at the meeting.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve had mailboxes knocked down, trees on the street run-into and a car into a person\u2019s house,” said resident Julie Adamek, endorsing the decision.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve already had a car lose control, hit my house and run into the front porch,” said another resident of the street, David Koenigstein, who likewise said he was in support of the new speed limit.<\/p>\n
