A developer has proposed a plan the build a self-storage facility near a busy Toms River intersection, and will appear before the township\u2019s zoning board in October.<\/p>\n

VRE Storage Toms River has applied for variance relief required to build the facility at the intersection of Oak and Bay avenues. The facility would be located in a currently-vacant parcel of land at the northwest corner of the intersection, nearest to the Ocean County Mall property.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s proposal calls for the subdivsion of the property as it currently exists, creating two lots \u2013 one of which will be home to the self-storage facility. Details as to the exact size of the proposed facility were not included a notice on the application.<\/p>\n

The application requires two variances. The first would allow the developer relied from the maximum building coverage requirement of 15 percent, where 19.02 percent is proposed. Additionally, 73 parking spaces would normally be required for a business in the proposed location, however the applicant is proposing 24 parking spaces.<\/p>\n

The application will be subject to a hearing and vote at the board\u2019s Oct. 10, 2024 meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the township municipal complex on Washington Street.<\/p>\n
