Seaside Park police have released their periodic blotter, which includes a sampling of recent calls to which the department responded – in this case, including the July 4 holiday weekend. The total number of calls for service handled last week was 332. The blotter appears below:

Arrest – Police were dispatched to the bay block of 23rd Avenue for a fight between two female roommates while they were visiting a friend. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim who stated her and her roommate got into a verbal argument which became physical resulting in an injury to the caller. The offender was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. She was later lodged in Ocean County Jail.
Alarm – Police responded to a burglar alarm activation in the area of 3rd Lane and Ocean Avenue for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the residence, and no signs of forced entry were observed. All doors and windows were found to be locked, and it was determined that the alarm was set off in error.
Disturbance – Police were dispatched to the area of 6th Lane beach for a male who was yelling and arguing with badge checkers and lifeguards. Officers arrived and spoke to the staff who explained the situation. Police also spoke to the male and got his side of the story. The male was advised it is a private beach, and he was being asked to leave. Officers escorted the male off the beach without incident.
Arrest – Police responded to 20th and Central Avenue for an assault victim. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who stated she was assaulted. Officers gathered all the information needed to generate a report. The offender fled prior to our arrival. A warrant for his arrest was issued and was apprehended shortly thereafter at his residence in Toms River. The male was brought back to headquarters where he was processed. The male was charged and lodged in Ocean County Jail.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of Porter and Central Avenue for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. Officers arrived and made sure any occupants were feeling okay and out in fresh air. The fire department responded and checked the residence with their equipment. The residence was deemed safe and it was determined to be a faulty detector.
Community Policing – Police were flagged down in Municipal Lot 3 for a motorist who locked their keys in their vehicle. Officers utilized a lockout kit and were able to gain access to the vehicle for the owner.
Verbal Argument – Police were dispatched to the area of I Street and the Boardwalk for a male and female arguing. Officers arrived and spoke to the individuals to see what was happening. It was determined to just be a verbal argument, and police were able to mediate the situation between the couple.
Trash Fire – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 2nd Avenue beach for a trash fire that was caused by a firework that was not fully extinguished. Officers and fire arrived to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Community Policing – Police responded to help a caller that could not locate their vehicle and thought it may have been stolen. Officers spoke to the caller and put out the description of the vehicle for patrols to look for. The vehicle was located several blocks away and the owner was given an escort back to her vehicle.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to assist a victim who was having difficulty breathing. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene and given oxygen. They were later transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.
Assault – Police were dispatched to the area of O Street and the Boulevard for a caller who stated they were hit by rocks thrown by two males wearing all black riding by on bicycles. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who told police what happened. A bruise was observed on the forearm of the caller from being hit with the rock. The caller refused any medical attention. The caller just wanted to report the incident to police. The surrounding area was checked but no subjects matching the description were found.

Disturbance – Police responded to the area of Decatur Avenue and the Boulevard for two females arguing in the street and the neighbor shouting at them to be quiet. Officers arrived and all parties were already separated. Officers spoke to the individuals involved and got both sides of the story. Police gathered the information needed to generate a report. It was determined to just be a verbal altercation. Individuals involved went their separate ways.
