Seaside Park Police Blotter: Traffic Transgressions, Drunken Summer Follies

Seaside Park Police have released their periodic blotter, featuring a sampling of calls to which the department responses over the past week. The total number of calls handled by the department was 247. The blotter appears below:

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to assist a patient who was having trouble breathing. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene. The patient was later transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Arrest – While conducting a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation it was learned that the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant for criminal charges from the Pennsylvania State Police. The male was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. The male was lodged in Ocean County Jail awaiting pick up from PA State Police.

Fire Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire alarm activation in the area of Stockton Avenue and Ocean. Officers arrived, and no smoke or active fire were observed. Police secured the scene while the fire department checked the building with their equipment. The fire department deemed the building to be safe and determined the alarm to be set off in error.

Community Policing – Police were dispatched to assist a motorist whose vehicle had broken down in the area of 20th Avenue and Barnegat. Officers arrived and spoke to the driver and gathered any necessary information. The driver was given a ride back to their residence by police.

Alarm – Police responded to a burglar alarm activation in the area of Ocean and 3rd Lane. Officers arrived and checked the residence. No signs of forced entry were observed. The residence was deemed to be secure, and it was determined that the alarm was set off in error.


Motor Vehicle Violation – While on patrol in the area of Stockton and Boulevard, officers got a hit on a vehicle for having a suspended registration after conducting a random search inquiry. A motor vehicle stop was conducted, and police made contact with the driver and had advised him of the reason for the stop. After further investigation it was learned the driver also had a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the driver was issued summonses for the suspended license and registration.

Borough Ordinance Violation – While on patrol on the area of the Decatur Avenue beach entrance, officers observed a male urinating in public. Police made contact with the male and advised him of the violation. The male was issued a borough summons for urinating in public.

Disturbance – Police responded to the area of Decatur and Ocean Avenue for a report of a male yelling. Officers located the male and made sure he was okay. The male was fine, but he was intoxicated and had some cuts and abrasions on his hands and arms. This was possibly linked to an incident that occurred on the beach with a group of friends. The victim did not want to report anything and was checked out by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad at the scene and refused any further treatment. The male was advised of complaint procedures if he changed his mind.
