A busy – but sensitive – area of Toms River will see an influx of stop signs installed soon after concerns were raised by residents. Meanwhile, another corridor will see its speed limit reduced.
The township council last week approved a measure that would add stop signs to numerous intersections in a neighborhood north of Route 37, off Brookside Drive. The stop signs will be installed at the intersections of Greenwich Court and Ocean View Drive (on Greenwich); Greenwich Court and Raleigh Drive (on Greenwich); Knight Street and Kingsley Court (on Kingsley Court); Knight Street and Regal Court (on Regal Court); Knight Street and Royal Lane (on Knight Street); Royal Lane and Medallion Lane (on Medallion Lane); and Castle Drive and Kingsley Court (on Kingsley Court).
“We checked on about 30 intersections, and seven of them had no stop signs,” said Township Engineer John M. Mele.
The council also unanimously approved an ordinance that would reduce the speed limit along the entire length of Walnut Street from 40 m.p.h. to 35 m.p.h.
