Silver Beach Road, in Toms River’s north beach portion of the island, will receive two stop signs that have long been requested by residents.
The Toms River Township council this week included the stop signs in a revision to the township’s traffic ordinance that was introduced this week, along with a speed limit reduction on a busy mainland road.
The council passed the measure to add stop signs at two intersections now deemed to be in need of them. Silver Beach Road, appropriately located in the neighborhood that carries the same name, will have stop signs installed at the intersections of Bayberry Road and Boatmans/Fishermans Road.

The township council also voted unanimously to reduce the speed limit from 35 m.p.h. to 25 m.p.h. along the entire length of Whittier Avenue, from Route 37 to West End Avenue.
