A Seaside Heights woman is getting a “second chance” to become a Jeopardy champion, with a fresh appearance on the institutional quiz show scheduled for Wednesday night.
Denise Carlon, an attorney from town, will compete in the show’s “Second Chance Tournament,” in which popular contestants who have previously competed on the show return. Carlon will appear as part of the show’s Group Four in the semifinal round for a chance to advance to the final round. Tens of thousands of dollars are at stake in each round, regardless of the total the contestants win during the course of the game.
Carlon, 41, is a managing attorney who works for a firm based in Philadelphia, specializing in bankruptcy law. Earlier during the show’s current 39th season, she lost to a former 13-day winner by just $100. Another well-known former contestant, Rowan Ward, jokingly vowed to “riot at dawn” if Carlon was not invited back on the show following her dominating performance which faltered at the last minute.
Carlon’s first appearance on the show made her a fan favorite after she correctly named the fictional character “Dr. Evil” while doing an impression of the Hollywood villain. The clip of her answer went viral on social media sites soon after.
Her “nemesis,” Ray LaLonde, lost the following night after collecting more than $384,000 in winnings.
Jeopardy can be seen on WABC-TV (7) and WPVI-TV (6) at 7 p.m. each night. Carlon is scheduled to appear on Wednesday night’s show.
Let’s go Denise!
