Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, featuring a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the past week. The total number of calls for service during that period was 197. The blotter appears below:
8/9
First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to the area of 13th and Central for a female fall victim who had an arm injury. Subject fell and felt their arm could potentially be broken. Officers and EMS arrived, and she was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.
Swimmers in Distress – Police responded to the 9th Avenue beach for multiple swimmers in distress. Officers arrived and entered the water and assisted a swimmer out of the water. One got out with the help of a surfer and the other got out on their own. Subjects were checked out by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad and two of the three were transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.
Open Door – Police were flagged down in the area of Porter and the Boulevard for an open door to a residence. Officers checked out the home and observed no signs of forced entry and no unauthorized people were located. The door was secured by Officers.
Barricaded Subject – Police responded to the area of 9th and Ocean for a male subject that was intoxicated, acting aggressively, and according to the caller was in a bedroom with his one-year-old son while in possession of a handgun. The caller already had all the other occupants of the house outside at a safe distance prior to our arrival. Officers entered the residence and made contact with the subject. Other agencies arrived and assisted us with creating a perimeter as well as diverting traffic away for safety. Ocean County SWAT Team was on standby. Officers began a dialogue with the male who was agitated, aggressive, and uncooperative. After some time speaking to the subject, he was taken into custody peacefully. The child was taken out of the house safely and reunited with his mother. A 9mm handgun was recovered as well as cocaine. The male was processed at police headquarters where he was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, obstruction of justice, and terroristic threats. He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

Borough Ordinance – While on patrol in the area of Decatur Avenue beach Officers observed a male smoking on the beach in violation of the borough ordinance. Officers made contact with the offender, and he was issued a borough summons for the offense.
Borough Ordinance – While on patrol in the area of H Street and the boardwalk Officers observed a male with an open container of alcohol. Officers made contact with the male, and he was issued a borough summons for the violation.

Community Policing – While on patrol in the area of the Stockton Avenue beach police were flagged down by a male who was intoxicated and needed some assistance. Officers spoke to the male and made sure he did not need any medical attention. The male was given a safe ride home by officers.

Arrest – Police were dispatched to the area of 12th and Bayview Avenue for a report of a male and female arguing. Officers arrived and spoke to both parties regarding the incident. The male was out of control and unreasonable, yelling and screaming, and causing a disturbance. The male was aggressive towards police and acting in a disorderly manner. The male was advised he was under arrest and immediately resisted and elbowed one of the officers in the face. The male was taken into custody and processed at police headquarters. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a police officer, and terroristic threats. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail.
Boater in Distress – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of K Street and the bay for a sailboat that was overturned and two people were in the water. The fire departments water rescue safely brought the male and female to shore, and they were checked out by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad at the scene and refused any further treatment.
Borough Ordinance – While on patrol in the area of the Stockton Avenue beach Officers observed a male urinating in public. Officers made contact with the male, and he was issued a borough summons for the violation.

Arrest – Police were dispatched to the area of K Street and Berkeley Lane for a report of a male shooting at birds on his property. Officers arrived and observed a BB gun left out at the property. Police spoke to the homeowner and after further investigation it was determined the male did shoot a bird which was located near the property and the bird did ultimately succumb to its injuries. The male was placed under arrest and was transported to police headquarters. He was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and animal cruelty.
