Seaside Park Police Blotter: Peace Kept, Leak Fixed, Seagull Assisted

Seaside Park police have released their periodic blotter, sharing a number of calls to which the department responded over the last week. The total number of calls for service was 76.

Well Being Check – Police were dispatched to the area of 9th and Central to conduct a well being check. The caller was worried about their family member who was not answering their calls. Officers arrived and were able to make contact with the male and advised him that his relative was worried about him. The male was advised to call his relative at his convenience.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to assist a patient who was experiencing general weakness and was semi-conscious. Officers and EMS arrived and began to assess the patient at the scene. They were later transported to Community Medical Center for medical treatment.

Keep the Peace – Police responded to the ocean block of L Street to keep the peace while the caller retrieved their belongings from a previous residence. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who was removing the rest of her belongings out of her old apartment and wanted police there in case there was an argument. Officers stood by while she gathered her items and mediated the interaction between former roommates.

Alarm – Police were dispatched to the ocean block of K Street for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the exterior of the residence. No signs of forced entry were observed. All doors and windows were found to be secure. The alarm was reset by the alarm company, and the homeowner was advised of our findings.

Gas Leak – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of N Street and the Boulevard for the odor of natural gas at a residence. Officers arrived and made sure the occupants were out in the fresh air. The fire department arrived and began to check the residence with their equipment and did locate a gas leak in the garage. The gas to the residence was shut off by the fire department. New Jersey Natural Gas responded and located the exact origin of the leak and made sure the rest of the residence was safe. The homeowner was advised to make the necessary repairs.

Community Policing – While on patrol in the area of 5th and Central Avenue a motorist flagged down police asking for help with directions. The driver was lost and was looking for an address in Lavallette. Officers were able to assist the motorist and direct them where they needed to go.

Animal – Police were dispatched to the area of Farragut Avenue and the Boulevard for an injured seagull that could not fly. Officers arrived and retrieved the bird and transported it to our holding pen at public works. Berkeley animal control was notified and were en route to pick up the bird.

Noise Complaint – Police responded to the area of Porter and Central Avenue for a noise complaint. The caller stated she heard screaming and banging in one of the neighboring apartments. Officers arrived and did not observe any noise upon arrival. They were able to make contact with the resident, and everything was fine, and no police assistance was needed.
