Seaside Park police have issued their periodic blotter, chronicling a number of calls to which the department recently responded. The total number of calls handled by the department over the last week was 173. The blotter appears below:

Open Door – While on patrol in the area of Lafayette and Ocean Avenue, officers observed an open door at a business. Officers checked the area and no signs of forced entry was observed. Nothing appeared to be taken or disturbed, and police were able to secure the door.
Agency Assist – Police were dispatched to the area of Stockton and Ocean Avenue to assist Seaside Heights police with two males who stole four bottles of liquor from an establishment in their jurisdiction and ran into our town. Officers checked the area and were able to locate both subjects at Decatur and North Bayview. Both subjects were apprehended and the stolen bottles were recovered. The subjects were turned over to Seaside Heights for processing.

Odor Investigation – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of K Street and Central for the odor of natural gas inside a residence. Officers arrived and made sure any occupants were out in fresh air. The fire department arrived and located a gas leak in the laundry room of the residence. New Jersey Natural Gas responded and shut the gas off at the meter until proper repairs could be made.
Arrest – While on patrol in the area of Lafayette and Central Avenue, officers observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and conduced a motor vehicle stop. While speaking with the driver, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was observed. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and it was determined that the driver was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The male was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with DWI as well as other traffic violations.
Community Policing – While on patrol in the area of Farragut and Ocean Avenue, officers observed a male fall. Police made contact with the male and made sure he was alright and asked if he needed medical attention. The male was intoxicated and unsteady on his feet. He was given an escort by officers and reunited him with friends to get him home safely.
Arrest – While on patrol in the area of Porter and Ocean Avenue, officers observed a male breaking windows of multiple motor vehicles. Officers made contact with the male and placed him under arrest. After further investigation it was determined that he broke several car windows as well as multiple windows of a nearby business. The male transported to police headquarters where he was charged with criminal mischief and public nuisance.

Alarm – Police were dispatched to a burglar alarm activation in the area of K Street and K Court. Officers arrived and checked the residence and did not observe and signs of forced entry. All doors and windows were found to be secure. It was determined that the alarm was set off in error.

Verbal Dispute – Police responded to the area of J Street and Central Avenue for a report of two males arguing. Officers arrived and spoke to the two subjects involved. Police determined that it was only a verbal argument and were able to mediate the situation and separated the subjects.
