A former Toms River police officer whose activities at an ex-boyfriend’s home became viral fodder earlier this year was sentenced to a term of probation, plus several other penalties, by an Ocean County judge.
Rebecca Sayegh, 32, of Toms River, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan to a three-year probationary term relative to her previously-entered guilty plea to burglary, criminal mischief, and simple assault, all in connection with a series of events that occurred in Berkeley Township on April 25, 2025. Additionally, the judge ordered that Sayegh is to have no contact with her victims and pay restitution for the damage she caused. Sayegh was also required to forfeit her position as a Toms River Township Police Officer effective Nov. 17, 2025, and has forfeited all future public employment in the State of New Jersey.
Sayegh pled guilty to all charges before Judge Ryan on November 17, 2025.
According to a statement from prosecutors, the incident leading to Sayegh’s initial arrest took place April 25, 2025 at about 11:20 p.m., when Berkeley Township officers were called to a residence on Evernhan Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance. Responding Officers discovered Sayegh – who was off-duty – had smashed the front glass door and entered the residence. It was determined that Sayegh also damaged the hood of a vehicle belonging to one of the victims which was parked in the driveway. She was located at the scene and was taken into custody after having “resisted efforts to peacefully place her under arrest,” the statement said.
The burglary and asault was apparently sparked by interpersonal disputes that have been detailed in a lawsuit, first reported by Jersey Shore Online earlier this week. The case went viral on the internet and received national attention after details of the incident began to spread across the internet, alongside glamorous photos of the officer.
