A 40-year-old Toms River man who is accused of causing a fatal accident by allegedly driving 106 m.p.h. will remain in jail pending trial, Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels decided Thursday.
Jamie Doyle, 40, of Toms River, will remain detained in the Ocean County Jail on charges of aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license while involved in a motor vehicle crash causing death. Doyle was charged in connection with a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Toms River on Jan. 23, 2026, resulting in the death of Ronald Bucher, 76, also of Toms River.
Doyle initially faced a count of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, but the additional charges were added after investigators allegedly determined that Doyle was operating his vehicle at approximately 106 m.p.h. just five seconds prior to crashing into Bucher’s vehicle, and subsequently impacted Bucher’s vehicle at a rate of approximately 65 m.p.h. The crash took place at Route 37 and Romana Lane.
