Few New Clues, No Leads in Case of Skull Discovered in Brick

Authorities hoping to glean information from advanced testing on a skull found in Brick earlier this year have – except for a few general facts – been unable to do so.

The skull was found March 22 in a wooded area in the Lake Riviera section. It was fully decomposed by the time it was found. After the discovery by a resident, the skull was sent to a New Jersey State Police crime lab for testing, but the tests provided few clues into whose skull it was or how it ended up discarded in the woods in Brick.

According to Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the testing determined that the skull likely belonged to an Asian male, at least 18 years of age. It had been left exposed for over a year.

Since the age estimate did not include an upper limit – simply that the person was over 18 – it “does nothing to help” the investigation, Della Fave said.

Detectives received no leads at all from the discovery itself or the resulting media coverage, Della Fave said.
