Brick police offices will receive new state-of-the-art duty weapons under a contract approved by the township council this week.
The department will continue to use Glock handguns, however officers will now be outfitted with new G47 models with COA optics installed. The COA optic is a red-dot sight integrated into the G47 through a partnership between Glock and Aimpoint. The COA is not a laser, but a red dot reflex sight that projects a red dot using an LED emitter inside an enclosed housing. The dot appears to be superimposed upon a target to the person aiming the weapon, but it is reflexive, meaning the “dot” does not physically appear on the target itself. The system was introduced in 2025 and has become particularly popular with law enforcement.
The township will purchase 155 of the Glock 47 COA models at a cost of $79,670 from Witmer Public Safety Group of Coatesville, Pa. The order comes from a pre-negotiated statewide contract. Acting Police Chief Henry Drew said the cost of the 155 pistols was reduced since the force’s current batch of duty weapons is being turned in to the manufacturer for compensation.
