A car dealership that operated in Brick Township for decades would be demolished and replaced by a car wash under an application pending before the township’s zoning board.

The board will hear the application filed by Selman Savino Properties, the owner of the property at 781 Route 70, at a meeting next month. The property was long occupied by Circle Dodge, which took its name from the adjacent traffic circle that existed at the intersection that now connects Route 70 and the start of Brick Boulevard. Circle Dodge eventually closed after being purchased by Selman-Savino, the parent company of the All-American auto sales group. The company opened a used car dealership there in the years following its acquisition.

According to the board filing, plans call for the company to demolish the existing one-story car dealership building and construct a one-story car wash with site improvements including a new asphalt parking lot, vacuum stations, and EV charging stations, plus stormwater management features, a retaining wall, concrete walkways, along with curing, signage and other features.

The application requires the approval of a use, or “D” variance, since standalone car washes are not normally permitted in the B-3 business zone in which the property is located. A use variance requires a supermajority of board members voting in favor of approval.

The application will be heard at the board’s July 8, 2026 meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. at the township municipal complex on Chambers Bridge Road.
